Paws Plus You’s DOG HOME SCHOOL PROGRAM for Paws to the Rescue is designed for clients and their newly adopted dogs to get the most out of their in-home private training experience.

Whether you want to be present for the actual training sessions or not, we’ll make sure that you are included in your canine’s progress from the beginning to the end of your program.  You will need proof of adoption showing you rescued your dog within the past 6 months.

Consultation = 90 minutes

Two 60 minute sessions in 1 week

Owner Summary = 60 min

Total time for program = 270 minutes

Proof of adoption will be required

Paws to the Rescue Home School Program total fee: $175 (includes $25 non-refundable deposit).  Please read our cancellation policy in the menu.

FOR YOUR DOG:

Following your 90 minute consultation, your trainer will come to your home twice for a week (preferable Tues & Thurs or Wed & Fri) in a one-on-one session with your rescue dog. 

 

Your trainer will spend 1 hour with your pup each session, working on the skills needed to achieve the goals you’ve set in your consultation:

• Relationship building - exercises to increase trust & bonding

• Safety & Positive surroundings - discuss equipment, safety precautions, crating & gating

• Socialization – smells, sounds, visual, protected contact with new things and people, buddy walks

• Shared activities – training, teach beginner tricks, enrichment

• Training – basic manners, name recognition, attention games, recall, loose leash walking

FOR YOU:

Each session will have a review and an enrichment activity at the end.  Report cards, handouts, and videos will be sent to owner each week.  It’s important that you are a part of your dog’s progress.

FULLY CUSTOMIZED CURRICULUM:

Your Home School program is 100% personalized to your training goals and your dog’s unique learning needs.

CERTIFIED COACHES:

Your dog will learn from a professional, insured, certified dog trainer by using training methods based on Positive Reinforcement methods.  This method teaches dogs what we want them to do by repeating behavior that is reinforced by giving your dog treats, toys, praise, or something else they like. NO punishment or adverse tools used.

Some Pros to being home schooled:

• Allows dog to acclimate to their new home with less stress.

• Prevention for those early unwanted puppy behaviors and habits.

• Your training schedule is much more flexible, allowing you to work around your busy life.

• Tailored to fit your specific training goals rather than the group class generalized curriculum.

• Address specific unwanted behaviors.

• Dogs that are easily distracted or reactive in a group setting, training at home can be the perfect place to start before transitioning into a group class.

 

Some Cons to being home schooled:

• Another disadvantage is that your dog is not learning to listen to you outside of the home where distractions abound.

• You miss out on shared learning from a group class from other dogs and parents asking questions and seeing their interactions.
